Have been by myself for several days now, hubby being away. Done all the things a girl does when left on her own devices (notwithstanding the requirement to go to work and behave as an adult): stayed up late, not changed out of the pajamas the whole day (even when walking the doggies - that's what large overcoats are for!), cooking and eating from one pot, listening to favourite music LOUD, writing and reading like there is no tomorrow..

The best part though are the awkward dance movements - nobody is here to see me anyway, and the combination of those and the enticing outfit of trackie-pants, hoodie and ugg boots - ay caramba! (The dogs are scratching their heads though. Oh well, maybe it's only fleas.)

Hmmm... how's the hair? Ponytail or jacked up bun? Please tell me you have your hair in a bun. It ain't a "me" day unless your hair is sitting on the top of your head lol!

Alas, but sadly no! It is just flowing about in a greasy mess (forgot to mention that on the days when I don't go to work (=weekend), I forgo my showers. Yay!).

I've had my days of that, but living in a tropical climate (the humidity, ugh), I can't do it as much as I would like haha! It's funny how the whole professional weekday persona drops like a dead deer when a gal has the day off. Well, in my case, anyway :)

I know! Tell me about it!
When we were young (not that long ago, relatively speaking, LOL!), weekdays were the monotonous dressing and make-up days, weekends being when one really put the best foot forward. Now it is completely opposite...
*le sigh*

I can do that also with hubby around, he doesn't care/knows I'm crazy anyway. Don't have a dog to take for a walk, but since nobody can look into our flat it's sometimes less than a complete pyjama. On warm days, that is *grin*.
Hair too short for a bun or anything, but I've just died it dark cherry red.
The best thing to eat from a pot on a cold winter's day is home-made vanilla pudding, still warm. Or milk-rice, perhaps, with homemade plum compote and a pinch of cinnamon.

He he, there with you with that as well! When he is at home and a good song comes out of the stereos, both of us rush to it and yank the volume louder, then shake and shimmy around as nobody's watching!

He loves to iron the clothes meditatively while listening to fast metal music. Hopping around like a maniac is harmless in comparison. *giggle*

Slightly disappointed that the music tag for this wasn't Canned Heat ;D

Oh gods, last time I was home alone I ate pasta straight from the pan where I cooked it. I do shower, but only because I take such pleasure in it, not to get clean, haha.

Canned Heat? Why not, although I am currently going through a period of obscure (internationally speaking) Finnish rock. Bloody good, I might add!

One of the other joys (besides not showering, as it is sooo much hard work: getting undressed, getting all wet, then using the towel, then getting dressed again...) is that I can eat whenever I want, not dictated by mealtimes. It is 3 o'clock in the morning? Why not, bring in the cheese omelette! I get up and feel not hungry for breakfast? Why not, eat a few hours later!

(Alas, all this with the caveat that it is not a workday...when it is, it is unfortunately somewhat more regimented...)

Canned Heat by Jamiroquoi (sp?) was used for that dance in Napoleon Dynamite :D

OMG, I think I just outed myself! I was thinking about the band Canned Heat from 1960's... Also play(ed) dancable music, albeit a country-type more than rock.

And I haven't even seen 'Napoleon Dynamite' either, although I am aware of it. Jamiroque's 'Canned Heat' is familiar though, love their music! One of my phone contacts has their 'Supersonic' as his customised ringtone and it matches him perfectly...

I just slink quietly into a corner and think about all the hip things I don't know...

I am a huge film buff, having worked in a cinema for several years and just having a huge interest, I sometimes forget that my references isn't everyone elses :P

This is what I'm referring to:

Oh no worries, I am sure that everyone else in the universe got it straightaway - I am just a bit lazy when it comes to movies... I usually say to myself that "I'll just wait until it comes from telly", and then as I don't watch much TV either, they just...slip by... Probably most movies I watch in long-haul flights, although even that I am getting lazy about (better things to do, you know, *wink*)

And whoa, that was SO FUNNY! His earnestness, his moves, the deadly silence of the audience... *giggles*

Woohooo!

I kind of feel jealous...my hubby is hardly ever away, so these moments are very rare to me... Last time this happened (to this length of time) I discovered that I was not happy with my then-job and led us to move to another city (& job for me) soon after.

Not that it is a desirable effect as such, and not that I wouldn't love to have him around (I do!), but there is something decadent and oh so primeval to be on one's own...

*toast!* (red wine, Petit Verdot, in this case)

Yes, alone time is definitely a nice thing to have :) Sometimes I quite like it when he goes away for a full week - I can stay up all night reading/writing and not have anyone insist I go to bed! And the shower thing you mentioned above lol. But then sometimes he goes away for two or three weeks, and then I get quite sad. Right now I kind of wish he'd disappear for a bit, though *g* - we've kind of been in each other's pockets lately, and I want my me time.

Hear hear, agree, agree!

I miss him now too: the washing machine is broken, dishwasher is not washing, kitchen lights are falling down, carport roof has a piece falling down... :-)

No, seriously, it is time he gets home, I do miss him dearly. Two more days. (it has been whopping 12 days already!)

You're too funny. :-) I'm quite envious of your you time. I can't remember the last time I had the house to myself for more than a couple of hours. As it is, I'm typing this with my left hand as there is a child laying on my right. Sigh. Have some wine for me!

But I am sure children bring their own glorious rewards with them, not anywhere near comparable to some slack-time...

Yet, couldn't you hand them over to your hubby or relies and send them on their way and then have a few glorious days all for yourself, complete with a greasy hair, hobo-outfit and a cooking pot full of spaghetti and a spoon in hand - all while blaring your favourite music through the sound-system and shimmying around the living room?

LOL There are rewards but the grass is always greener. :-) Babysitters can be hard to come by, especially for sleepovers. We take what we can get and try to soak up those few hours. :-)
