The man was all hard angles and planes as he lied next to her in the bed, his bony hips and ribcage protruding against Ara’s soft body when she pressed it against him.

He had arrived earlier that day carrying a flaming sword, fire of which didn’t quench even in the scabbard. He was accompanied by a red-headed woman who carried a stone that shone bright and red as the evening sun about to disappear behind sandy dunes in a ribbon around her throat.

They were looking for a silver-haired former khaleesi among the dosh khaleen. The stern-eyed man had declared that they wanted to take her far, far away, to the North, to the man in black who needed her. This man - the Watcher on the Walls - needed her Fire for his Ice, and together they were to conquer the ancient enemy that threatened the whole world; Westeros, Essos and all the lands north and south, east and west.

Dothraki didn’t care about the enemies so far away, but the miracles this dark man and his companion had performed in front of their eyes had convinced even the most sceptical old crones. Hence they had been afforded all the help and support dosh khaleen could provide, including offering Ara to the man when it was seen that he didn’t share his bed with the woman he travelled with.

Ara veered even closer to the man, fascinated by his grimness, his noble features, his broad shoulders and sinewy form. That this man was destined to greatness was evident to her and she wanted to rub even a small part of that into herself. Yet the man only pushed her away, sighed and turned his back on her, leaving Ara to wonder what drove a man like that when not even the softest skin, the silkiest hair and the most voluptuous body could steer him away from his path.

doing rounds in Tumblr and other social media. I thought it might be a fun thing to write a one-sentence/ one- paragraph/ one-ficlet/ a full-blown 200K-word opus on the fate that fell on you on this one...

So how about you talented writing ladies, anyone willing to share theirs??

I think I liked the challenge aspect of this; I would have never dreamed of writing even a one sentence of the scenario I got, but now I had to...

Aaaah, the possibilities are endless! For example Beric taking Lady Stoneheart to Godswood (somewhere in the Riverlands) hoping that old gods would help him to complete her resurrection; you wanting to take her down as you know she is only an empty shelf of someone who used to be Lady Catelyn; you and Beric arguing about it and things getting heated... Ha-ha!

Nice to read!

I've got "Ride carousel with Brienne in a brothel" - haven't felt inspired so far at all. I'm just happy that my first name isn't Zachary.

Yeah, that Z is a bit scary...

Hmmm... you and Brienne undercover in King's Landing, trying to find Sansa; Littlefinger dropping by on a business trip to KL to look after his many business affairs; you and Brienne masquerading as women applying for a position there and Petyr putting you guys trough an audition of some sort... Hah hah!

Oh geez, the bubbling of the creative force is just too strong...

Hmmm, a female sellsword and a whore are in fact, childhood friends from poor but respectable families from the Flea Bottom. The fate separates them once Rhaella, always the bigger and stronger of the two, is forced to find occupation to support herself after her parents die, and finds position across the sea in the Golden Company. Meanwhile Lyanna falls on hard times after being seduced by a heartless squire in the Lannister service. Rhaella comes back with the Dragon Queen's forces and sees Lyanna on the street and follows her to the brothel where she works.

As it happens, Beric Dondarrion (before leaving for his ill-fated expedition to capture The Mountain that Rides), spends an evening in the said establishment and becomes captivated first by Lyanna's beauty, then by her friend's impressive manners. Before the night is over they end up spending it together learning delightful secrets none of them have experienced before...

The whore was knowen as Lyanna, a great northern beauty with her long dark locks and smiling mouth, knights and sellswords talked throughout the realm of her great skills as both a lover and an confidant for knights to let their guard down and confide their deepest thoughts and desires. She had a patient hand and soft chest for them to weep upon, which would strangely had earned her the most coin.

Rhaella, the bravest, toughest woman sellsword in the relm entered Lyannas brothal one night, Beric Dondarrion, a man who followed the Red God, was by her side. They were knowen to drink and sing songs together till the wee hours of the morn, sheild mates, finding friendship and comfort alongside one another as they journeyed the hard road of war.

Rhaella and Lyanna formed an instant bond, Lyanna was entranced by Rhaellas myserious ways, while Rhaella was drawen by Lyannas sparkling blue eyes and constant laughter, Beric left in the shadows, a triangle would not be, could not be formed.

Lyanna was strong with the Old Gods. A great battle ensued between the three of them, Rhaella left to decide one evening in the Gods wood, a choice to go with Lyanna, leave the war and live a life of love, freedom in Dorn. Or stay with her shieldmate, who was with the Red Gods, and live a life serving a Lady with a stone heart that was filled with hate and vengeance......

"...Beric left in the shadows, a triangle would not be, could not be formed."
LOL!

Oh man, the turmoil! Beric is my buddy (or shield mate :D); but your sworn enemy. What's a confused sellsword to do?

Ha ha, can't decide whether this is Lyanna or Rhaella!

Awesome concept; two women finding each other in such intriguing circumstances... Although I confess I feel bad for Beric...oh why or why he could not be one with them.. (I seem to have a soft spot for 'triangles', tee-hee!)

Yess! These are fun, these completely odd-ball challenges! Thanks!!!

Indeed, that story concept has always intrigued me!

Just a while ago I saw the movie "Lords of Dogtown', and although the story itself does not really grab me (development of modern skateboarding as a sport and pastime), the aspect of it being told from a view point of four childhood friends, each of them eventually veering into their different lives, but getting together one more time to reminiscent their youth, was really touching.

The same concept works also in the movie "Sleepers" - and I am sure in many others. But yes, I could see it working here as well...
